VODACOM customers are now able to vote for Mount Kilimanjaro as a new seven wonder of the world for free through a short text message.
Vodacom’s Chief Officer: Marketing and Corporate Affairs Ms Mwamvita Makamba, said that it is up to all Tanzanians to make it possible for Mount Kilimanjaro to become one of the seven wonders of the world and Vodacom Tanzania wants to enable every Tanzanian fulfill that obligation.
To vote for Mount Kilimanjaro, Vodacom customers can send a short text message for free with the word “KILI” or “KILIMANJARO” to 15771 beginning today until Friday November 17, 2011.
“It is time we show patriotism and Vodacom offers this unique opportunity for everyone to vote, I believe that through this free text message Mount Kilimanjaro will garner enough votes to be chosen among the new Seven Wonders of the World,” Mwamvita said.
Vodacom has taken the initiative in support of Prime Minister Mizengo Pinda’s efforts to sensitize Tanzanians on the need to vote for Mount Kilimanjaro which is one of the national prestiges for the interest of the nation. “As Tanzanians we always proud of the mountain and let us now prove the world that we love it and we care for it” Mwamvita said.
“At the moment the Ngorongoro Crater is among the Seven Wonders of the World, bringing the country recognition on the global stage, shall Mount Kilimanjaro become another wonder of the world, it will not only add to the country’s respect and recognition, but also add to the country’s revenues gained through tourism,” she said.
The move by Vodacom, with an unprecedented customer base of 10 million plus, will help boost the mountain’s chances and showcases how the company prioritizes matters of national interest.
